Tipsarevic apologises to ‘friend’ Djokovic

World number nine Janko Tipsarevic, a late replacement at the ATP World Tour Finals for the injured Andy Murray, apologies to his “friend” Novak Djokovic for beating him in their group clash days before the Serbian pair holiday together.

The 27-year-old had no chance of qualifying for the semi-finals but the three-set defeat, 3-6 6-3 6-3, dented his compatriot’s chances.

The defeat, only Djokovic’s sixth in 76 matches this year, is the first time he has lost back-to-back matches since March 2010.
