In a clearly lopsided encounter, Serena Williams crusied to her eighth title win at the Miami Open with a straight set victory over Carla Suaez Navarro in the tournament final on Saturday.

Williams became just the fourth WTA player to win a single WTA tournament more than eight time (according to the WTA) and is currently riding a 21-match win streak heading into April.

Overall, the American smashed 27 winners and only allowed Navarro to win five points in the second set to close out the entire match 6-2, 6-0 in 56 minutes.

“Congratulations to Carla. She’s had a fabulous two weeks,” she said. “This is just the beginning. I’m really proud of you – we always get along and it’s always great to see you do well, so congratulations.

“Thank you to all my fans – thank you for believing in me and supporting me all these years!”

The American’s last loss took place back in 2014, when she lost to Simona Halep in the round robin stage of the WTA Finals in Singapore.
