Top seeds Kontinen/Peers also claim opening win

Jamie Murray and Bruno Soares successfully kicked off their Miami Open presented by Itau campaign on Saturday. The fourth seeds saved three of the four break points they faced to beat Treat Huey and Max Mirnyi 6-4, 6-3 in 68 minutes. Murray and Soares will next face Paolo Lorenzi and Joao Sousa in the second round.

Second seeds and defending champions Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Nicolas Mahut defeated Dominic Inglot and Florin Mergea 6-1, 4-6, 16-14. The French team will next face Brian Baker and Daniel Nestor in the second round.

Top seeds Henri Kontinen and John Peers also claimed an opening win, a 6-3, 4-6, 10-8 victory over Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah. They’ll next play Americans Nicholas Monroe and Jack Sock,who took out Aisam-Ul-Haq-Qureshi and Gilles Simon 6-4, 6-3. Sixth seeds Lukasz Kubot and Marcelo Melo beat Marcus Daniell and Marcelo Demoliner 2-6, 7-6(0), 10-7 to set a second-round meeting with Jean-Julien Rojer and Horia Tecau, who topped Viktor Troicki and Michael Venus 6-4, 7-5.

Seventh seeds Ivan Dodig and Marcel Granollers are through to the round of 16 after defeating Spaniards Albert Ramos-Vinolas and Fernando Verdasco 6-4, 6-3.
