If you corner Grand Slam great Andre Agassi and ask him which tennis player will continue their winning ways in 2015, his confident response would simply be : Novak Djokovic.

Agassi’s admiration of Djokovic is evident; apart from watching him overcome arguably the greatest player to ever step on a tennis court at the Wimbledon final this year, Agassi believes Djokovic was near invincible as the season progressed and finished it in perfect fashion.

“I have to (tip) Djokovic heading into the next year or two,” Agassi told reporters at the International Premier Tennis League in Singapore late on Thursday. “He seems like he just can hit cruise control and be a level above, and that’s a huge luxury.

“He doesn’t have to play lights-out to beat the top guys, he just has to play contained which is a big statement to how well he’s playing.”

Considering the remainder of the ‘Big Four’ has been struggling to remain atop the rankings this season – apart from 33-year-old Roger Federer, who is clearly keen to remain in form for the coming few years, Agassi is certain this will play in Djokovic’s favour.

British No. 1 Andy Murray has clearly struggled with his return following back surgery, while Rafael Nadal is once again forced onto the sidelines with various injuries. Unless there is a drastic improvement in 2015, this can only bode well for the Serbian star.

“A lot of things can happen, as we know. One minor injury at the wrong time and that tournament’s gone and maybe that part of the season’s gone,” Agassi said. “I don’t underestimate how much has to go right, but if everything goes right for everybody I’ve got to say he’s the one I’ll point to.”

Djokovic will begin his season at the Qatar ExxonMobil Open in January before he heads over to Melbourne in quest for his fifth Australian Open title.
