An intriguing fourth round contest is scheduled to take place between Polish no. 1 Agnieszka Radwanska and Serbia’s Jelena Jankovic at the All England Club on Monday. This marks the eighth time these two competitors will meet on the tour, with Radwanska leading the head-to-head series 5-2. However, Jankovic did win their most recent encounter at last year’s Rome Open on clay. This is the first time they will cross paths on grass.

Following a terrible start to her 2015 season, Radwanska appears to have gotten things under control on grass, as she has been her usual self since moving onto this surface last month. In her most recent match, Radwanska defeated Casey Dellacqua 6-1, 6-4 to advance to the fourth round at Wimbledon – one of her best performances of the year so far.

“Well, I just feel much better than in the beginning of the year, and also I think the surface makes a huge difference. Everything is just easier for me now that I’m back on the grass,” Radwanska said. “Losing first round at a Grand Slam is always disappointing. I wasn’t happy at all. But I had some days off – well, it was actually a lot of time off. And that’s why I took the wildcard into Nottingham, to play some more matches, and especially since the grass season was a little bit longer this year.

“More matches gives me more confidence. I’ve been feeling good from the beginning of the grass season. That’s why I just kept going in Eastbourne – I had good matches against top players there.”

In a surprising turn of events, No. 28 seed Jelena Jankovic managed to flip the script on Petra Kvitova, as she worked her way back from a set and a break down to oust the defending champion from the tournament. The Serb was down 6-3, 3-1 before she turned things around to close out the match in three sets.

This marks the eighth time these two will meet on the WTA tour, with Radwanska leading the series 5-2. Apart from a loss in their most recent meeting, the Pole won five of their last six consecutive matches dating back to 2011. She is certainly the favourite to win their Monday encounter and reach the quarter-finals at the Wimbledon Championships.
