Anderson, Karlovic Take Newport Wild Cards
Kevin Anderson and Ivo Karlovic have accepted wild cards into the Hall of Fame Open in Newport, Rhode Island, joining fellow wild card Jack Sock in the ATP 250 field.
Anderson will compete at the grass-court tournament for just the second time, having also played there in 2008 when he was 22. The South African star has proven a dangerous foe on this surface. In 2018, he reached the Wimbledon final.
Karlovic will make his 10th appearance in the Hall of Fame Open. The 2016 champion owns a 16-8 record in Newport, and he also reached the final in 2014 and 2015.
Leading the field will be Kazakhstani Alexander Bublik, who made his first ATP Tour final in Newport two years ago. Japanese lefty Yoshihito Nishioka will make his tournament debut.
