While the regular season came to an end last month, world No. 6 Agnieszka Radwanska took part in an exhibition match against former world No. 1 Martina Hingis in a singles match at the Champions Tennis League.

It was a pivotal contest that would determine whether Radwanksa’s Pune Marathas or Hingis’ Hyderbad Aces would make it to the final to play Delhi Dreams. Hingis broke three times in the match –once more than her Polish adversary – to defeat her 6-4 and give the edge to the Hyderbad.

Earlier in the day, Mark Philippoussis beat Pat Cash 6-3, while Radwanska and Marcos Baghdatis defeated Hingis and Mihail Youzhny 6-3 I the doubles match.

One of the most heartwarming stories that took place during the US Open took place when the unseeded pairing of Hingis and Pennetta, who defeated two of the biggest seeds at the tournament, No.5 seeds Kveta Peschke and Katarina Srebotnik and No.3 seeds Cara Black and Sania Mirza, to reach the final of the tournament – Hingis’ first doubles final since 1998.

The former No. 1 won 9 Grand Slam titles in doubles throughout her career.
