Nao Hibino of Japan, seeded fourth, also made it through, beating her compatriot Eri Hozumi, 6-3, 6-2.

Eighth seed Liu Fangzhou also progressed as she beat countrywoman Yang Zhaoxuan, 6-1, 6-4.
